Little Eats ‘soundbite review’:

Located on the Ocean Grove surf beach, The Dunes is a very casual, family friendly beach-side cafe and restaurant, slightly reminiscent of the Summer Bay surf club! Great for a big breakfast after a morning walk on the beach, a re-fuel after a surf or swim, afternoon coffee and cake, lunch or tea.

Little Eats detailed review:

The Dunes is perched atop the dunes (surprise?) and has perfect views of the Ocean Grove surf beach. It is a pretty casual cafe come restaurant with a distinctly family friendly vibe and plenty of seating both indoors and outside.

They have plenty of highchairs, it is very spacious with room for prams, and there is a special kids menu for lunch, dinner and desert. No menu for the little ones for breakfast, however with pancakes and ice-cream on the menu, I am sure they will be kept happy! There are also little tubs of crayons and colouring in sheets to keep them entertained. No change table though, and the loo’s are outdoor... however I guess this is all part of the beachy seaside vibe.

When we were there for breakfast (on a Saturday morning in Feb, but after the school hols) it was buzzing. There were families, babies, kids, cyclists, surfers and dogs everywhere.

For breakfast there are big serves of eggs (local free rage) and bacon on thick sourdough toast, piles of pancakes with maple syrup, berries and ice cream, granola, toast, fruit toast, banana bread and corn and fetta fritters with salmon. So lots of options to re-fuel after that early morning walk on the beach, swim, surf or boogie board!

For lunch and dinner you can enjoy standard favourites including calamari, fish and chips, risotto, pasta, salads and steak and the little ones can enjoy spinach and ricotta tortellini, home made chicken strips, calamari, fish or pizza all served with a choice of either chips or salad. And then if they were good and ate all their tea they can choose from ice cream with toppings, frog in the mud, shark in the sea or pancakes.

There are also plenty of treats available at The Dunes that will tempt the littlie’s... lollies, old favourite ice creams like Paddle Pops, baby-cino’s, mini hot chocolates, milkshakes, spiders, smilie face cookies, smartie cookies and lots of decadent cakes, muffins and brownies on display.

If you are holidaying down this way, then The Dunes is a good option in a great location for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just an ice-cream, coffee or a treat.
